Intergenerational resilience is a legacy
Has your favourite restaurant or nearest shop been closing early because they lack staff? That’s demographic change! And it will soon shake up more than that: care networks, transportation, and other public goods.
On Tuesday in Brussels we discussed with more than 100 stakeholders the most promising policy approaches. Think targeted labour recruitment, mainstreaming of intergenerational fairness, and pension reforms that take into account different work biographies.
If you were unable come to the conference or would like to revisit the key messages, we recommend our brand-new Discussion Paper “A Resilient Future of Europe”.
Many thanks to our panelists MEP Idoia Mendia, Deša Srsen (Cabinet of Glenn Micallef, European Commission), Maciej Kucharczyk (AGE Platform Europe), Christa Schweng (European Economic and Social Committee) and our Head of Research Arnstein Aassve (Università Bocconi), to our moderator Bridget Penhale, and to Dr. Bjoern Schulte, Research Attaché at the German Permanent Representation, for his words of welcome.
Thank you as well to our conference speakers: Vincenzo Galasso, Rense Nieuwenhuis, Agnieszka Chłoń-Domińczak, Paweł A. Strzelecki, Anita Abramowska-Kmon, Jakub Bijak, Fabrizio Natale, Diana Ognyanova, Emily Barker, Rolf Schreuder, Fabiana Pierini, Herve Boulhol, Alexia Fürnkranz-Prskawetz, Miguel Sánchez-Romero, and to all the guests who joined us.
