"Old age security in Europe" - Online Talk
Pension systems in Europe need to adjust to the reality of population ageing. For this, reforms are needed. Such reforms should however address the fact that people have increasingly diverse life courses. Broad changes would have very different consequences for different people, e.g. for someone who has faced health crises compared to a person who is fortunate enough to be physically and mentally healthy in older age. Reforms should therefore ensure that different groups receive similar rates of return from the pension system.
What does that mean? Prof. Alexia Fürnkranz-Prskawetz and Dr. Miguel Sánchez-Romero from TU Vienna present models of possible pension reforms and their outcomes, which they developed as part of the EU-funded FutuRes research project.
