FutuRes researchers met and spoke with distinguished experts from politics, business, science and civil society at the Berlin Demography Days 2024.

Three of our research leaders presented their work in expert panels from 23-25 January: Principal Investigator Arnstein Aassve discussed institutional resilience with representatives of UNFPA, the German Interior Ministry and the African Institute for Development Policy (see “Visionary Institutions for Crisis Prevention”); FutuRes Team Lead Alexia Fürnkranz-Prskawetz illustrated the use of dynamic modeling in the context of long-term crisis prevention (see “Building Back Better: After the ‘Shock’ and Beyond”); FutuRes Team Lead Agnieszka Chłoń-Domińczak explained how it is possible to anticipate which groups in a society will be most affected by future crises (see “Who can Cope – Who Can’t?”.

FutuRes wishes to thank all panelists and speakers at this inspiring and enlightening event; the organisers, the high-level policy experts for their insights, among them European Commission Vice-President Dubravka Šuica, German parliamentarian and former Minister of Health Hermann Gröhe, and the State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Health Dr. Antje Draheim. We are looking forward to continuing the conversation about #OvercomingCrises in our FutuRes Policy Lab.
